For Selected Candidates
How Applications Are Scored
01
Motivation & Purpose
The clarity and strength of your motivation statement — why you want to attend, what you hope to contribute, and how the programme aligns with your goals.
02
Relevance to Programme Themes
How closely your background, interests, or current work connects to the themes and objectives of the specific programme you are applying to.
03
Background & Experience
Your personal, academic, or professional background as it relates to the programme context. There are no minimum experience requirements.
04
Contribution Potential
Your potential to contribute meaningfully to group discussions, workshops, and the broader cohort experience during the programme.
05
Written Communication
The quality and clarity of your written motivation statement — how well you express your ideas and articulate your interest.
06
Geographic & Cultural Diversity
DPEM values diverse representation across cohorts. Applicants from a wide range of countries, backgrounds, and communities are actively encouraged to apply.
What You Need
Application Requirements
The core application is simple: a completed form and a motivation statement. That's all that is required for most programmes.
Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee is charged at submission to cover processing costs. The fee amount is listed on each programme's application page. If your application is successful, all attendance costs — accommodation and programme ticket — are fully covered by DPEM.
Application Form
MandatoryComplete the official DPEM application form for the specific programme. The form collects your personal details, background information, and any event-specific fields required by the organising committee.
Motivation Statement
MandatoryA written statement explaining why you want to attend the programme, what you hope to learn or contribute, and how the programme relates to your interests or goals. There is no minimum length requirement — write as much as you need to make your case clearly.
Event-Specific Requirements
Where applicableSome programmes may request additional materials — such as a short bio, a research abstract, or a letter of intent. Any such requirements are listed in the specific programme guidelines. These are not hard eligibility gates; all applications are reviewed regardless.
How We Choose
Selection Criteria
Every application is reviewed and scored. There are no automatic disqualifiers based on profession or background. The committee looks for applicants who are genuinely interested, thoughtfully engaged, and add to the diversity of the cohort.
01
Strength of Motivation
How compellingly you express why you want to attend — your reason for applying, what you hope to take away, and your genuine interest in the programme's themes.
02
Relevance to Programme
How well your background, interests, or current pursuits connect to the specific focus of the programme. No particular profession or level of experience is required.
03
Contribution to the Cohort
Your potential to enrich the group experience through your perspective, questions, or engagement. Diverse viewpoints and fresh voices are actively valued.
04
Quality of Written Expression
The clarity, coherence, and sincerity of your motivation statement. You do not need formal writing experience — the committee values authentic expression over polished prose.
05
Geographic & Cultural Diversity
DPEM seeks cohorts that represent a wide range of countries, cultures, and communities. Applicants from underrepresented regions and backgrounds are especially encouraged.
06
Event-Specific Criteria
Individual programmes may define additional scoring dimensions aligned with their theme. These are published alongside the event details and applied equally to all applicants.
